Christmas at The Doll's House Art Gallery

Updated: Jan 2, 2023

We love Christmas, and think that the magic of Christmas, lights and miniatures are a match made in heaven!

Christmas 2022

We're excited to be part of Macclesfield Town Council's Advent Window Trail and will be open 8am-8pm from December 1st 2022 - 5pm January 3rd 2023, with the installation lit up from 4-8pm daily. You can collect a paper map from the Visitor Information Centre or download the Local Highstreet app to follow the #AdventWindowTrail around town.

Can you guess which film our window installation is nodding to?! Click here if you're looking for the answer to exactly which 8 nods they are!

We also have a tree at Christ Church for their Christmas Tree Festival from December 1st-23rd! The general opening times to visit the trees are: MT CLOSED, WTF 5:30-7:30pm, SS 3:30-6:30pm. They also have a Christmas Concert on December 23rd from 6:30pm to close the festival and a festive day of fun for the whole family to enjoy planned for Sunday December 4th 11am-4pm.

"We have been working behind the scenes with a number of local groups and businesses who have kindly come to decorate a tree in the church! The 4th is a great opportunity to come and enjoy their creativity. This is one of our FREE events - donations are appreciated. What to expect: Children's Christmas crafts and activities, festive live music, Georgian dress-up, tombola, book & bric-a-brac stalls and refreshments."

Christmas 2021

Over the festive period of 2021, after lockdown had eased and we can come together once more, we moved to Arc Centre at Hat Works in Stockport. Their Gallery Cafe and handmade shop was open 10:00-16:00 on Thursdays & Fridays.

Christmas 2020

Over Christmas 2020, the gallery's first winter, the first Christmas of the Coronavirus pandemic and possibly one of our darkest ever in peacetime, we joined Levy Xmas Windows 2020 for their community light trail. We love Christmas and were in the window already, so why not?! You can follow them over in IG at @LevyXmasWindows or search the tag #LevyXmasWindows to see all the windows!

"In darkness we need sparkle!"

We brought together artwork from our Summer Open Call and a Christmas installation to create "Christmas At Home". It was open daily to map-trailing visitors throughout December and lit up each day after sunrise. We wanted to create a bit of magic during those dark and unsettling days!
